THE BANNER PHOTOGRAPH

The image was photographed at Pemaquid, Maine using a long lens. This individual had ventured well out on the point during the height of Hurricane Gloria. If we consider our physical being the essence of life, we might think him foolish. But he was clearly confronting the fury of the gale with his soul wide open. How often do we allow ourselves to come face-to-face with the elemental power of the universe? How ready are we to engage in the elemental challenges of the human experience -- of our own free will?
